Four local schools were welcomed back when the annual Farnborough School Choir Competition returned in early June. Over 100 choristers in total from St Peter's Junior School, Grange Community Junior School, St Bernadette's Catholic Primary School and Cherrywood Community Primary School competed in front a large audience at the Samuel Cody Sports College raising over £800 for their own school projects.

Mike Edwards, the event organiser said "The Lions had been running the Farnborough School Choir Competition for quite some time before it was put on hold for a couple of years due to covid restrictions. Now the competition is back the Lions are proud to use this event to raise funds directly for each participating school. Their support for the event has been amazing in recent years so it's good the proceeds of the ticket sales this year have befitted the schools directly".

After each choir sang 2 songs to entertain the sell out audience of pupil parents and supporters the judges had difficulty separating the choirs as the standard was so good. After deliberating they announced St Peter's Junior School Choir as the overall winner, St Bernadette's Catholic Primary School as Runners up, Grange Community Junior School in third place and Cherrywood Community Primary School as highly commended.

Mrs Kirsty Lewis Head Teacher of Cherrywood School said " It was such a great experience for the children - they were very complementary about the other schools' performances and were buzzing with ideas for what they could do next time, which was lovely to see. It was such a well organised night and our parents have also been very complementary. We are looking forward to taking part again next year.
